ChatterVOX Amplio - Flashing Red Light while charging

A flashing red light on a ChatterVox Amplio amplifier charger generally indicates a
charging fault, rather than normal operation. While a solid red light usually indicates charging, a flashing light means the system has detected an abnormality.
Common Causes
  • Poor Connection: The charging cable is not fully seated in the port, or there is dirt/corrosion on the contacts.
  • Battery Fault: The battery is dead, damaged, or cannot hold a charge, frequently happening if the unit was left discharged for a long time.
  • Incompatible Charger: You are not using the original charger, or it is providing incorrect voltage/amperage (the system typically needs a 5V input).
  • Overheat Protection: The battery or charger is too hot, often occurring if charged in direct sunlight or a confined space.
Troubleshooting Steps
  1. Check Connections: Unplug and re-plug the charger securely into both the wall outlet and the ChatterVox unit. Ensure there is no debris in the charging port.
  2. Reset the Charger: Unplug the charger from the wall, wait a few minutes, and plug it back in.
  3. Check Battery Condition: If the battery is old (e.g., over two years), it may need replacement.
  4. Try a Different Outlet/Charger: Ensure the charger is working properly. Using a high-power charger (like a 3A brick) on a device requiring less may cause a fault, so try a standard 5V charger.
  5. Allow to Cool: If the device is hot, let it sit for 30 minutes to cool down before trying to charge again.
